1- Inspection
A- Visual inspection of wheels and important shaft areas.
B- Dimensional chick at bearing and seal locations.
C- Run – out check (radial & axial) of rotor.
D- Complete disassembly of the rotor.
E- Run – out check (radial & axial) of bare shaft.
F- Non – destructive examination of the wheels, bare shaft and other parts.
G- Check of the wheel locking collar for looseness on the shaft, both ends (h.p.end, in particular).
H- All bores of wheels must be checked for concentricity.
I- All blades and shroudbands should be checked by die – penetration for cracks.
J- Keyway areas, journals & coupling surfaces must be chacked for cracks.
K- Report on inspection work, including items needing repair but the existing work scope.
2- Repair Work
2-1 Shaft
A- Picking up turning centers.
B- Rolling polishing of journal bearing areas.
C- Cleaning and burnishing of all other diameters.
D- Hardchroming of sealing areas must be ground, resprayed and ground to size, as per drawing.
E- Taking any suitable measure to fix the loseness of the wheel locking collar on the shaft (both ends).
F- Check & repair to fit (if needed to) all wheels mounting areas, spaces between wheels as coupling hub area.
G- Run – out check (radial & axial) of bare shaft after repair.
2-2 Wheels
A- All wheels should be wetglass blasted. Bores must be protected against damages.
B- Lost or / and damaged bucket shroudbands should be replaced.
C- All cracked or / and damaged blades should be replaced.
3- Reassembly:
A- Balancing of bare shaft to api tolerance.
B- Before assembly, each wheel should be dynamically and statically balanced.
C- Run – out check (radial & axial) of rotor.
D- Final balancing
E- Parts which are not within the tolerances size should be replaced, if needed to.
F- Apply preservative for long term storage.
