Scope of Work
1.Project Objectives
The objective of the project is to improve fire fighting capability at Khatiyah Main and UmbBab by replacing the existing firewater pumps and their controls with new pumps and control panels, considering current water demand. The above requirements are safety pre-requisites in conformity to QP safety philosophy, for prompt and efficient action of fire water systems in case of emergency at the concerned stations. Their implementation is therefore, compulsory to be in conformity with QP safety philosophy.

2.Proposed Facility
2.1 Khatiyah Main Replacement of following pumps and its controllers, the new pumps will be installed at the same location. 24-P-7501A - Electric motor driven pump with controller. 22-P-7500A - Diesel engine driven pump with all auxiliaries. 22-P-7502 - Electric motor driven jockey pump with controller. In addition to above, one new electric motor driven jockey pump with controller is to be provided near the existing jockey pump 22-P-7502. The diesel engine driven pump along with diesel engine, pump controller, associated fuel tank and other accessories shall be designed to facilitate fire fighting in case of mains power outage during emergency or when electric driven pump is not available during demand.

The new diesel storage tank (for the replaced new diesel engine driven fire pump, 22-P-7500A) shall be located inside the pump shelter as per NFPA-20. New instruments shall be provided for the new pumps. Existing Pressure switches shall be replaced with pressure transmitters. Existing firewater operating, safeguarding and control philosophy shall be followed. Proposed demolitions and modifications include the following: Demolition of existing firewater pumps 24-P-7501, 22-P-7500, 22-P-7502 and associated suction and discharge piping, pump foundations and existing firewater pump related instruments. Demolition of existing diesel tank 24-T-7500-1 (catering to existing diesel engine driven fire pump 22-P-7500A) Tie-in for new pump suction lines to the existing firewater pump suction header. Tie-in for new pump discharge lines to the existing firewater pump
